Planning a trip just got a whole lot smarter. Expedia has launched a new app inside ChatGPT that lets travelers find and plan their stays through a simple conversation — no switching between tabs, no endless searches.
Starting October 6, 2025, anyone logged into ChatGPT (outside the EU) can simply type something like:
“Expedia, find me a hotel room in New York for under $400 in November.”
Instantly, the Expedia app will respond in chat with real-time results — including hotel options that meet your price range, flight combinations, and even interactive maps to explore destinations.
This new feature uses Expedia’s live pricing and availability data, so travelers can browse or book directly from the conversation. It’s fast, visual, and intuitive — making trip planning feel more like chatting with a smart travel assistant than filling out a form.
What's in it for Hosts?
While this update is geared toward travelers, it’s also worth watching for hosts. Expedia owns Vrbo, which means integrations like this could soon extend to vacation rentals and short-term stays. Imagine guests asking:
“Expedia, find me a two-bedroom near the River Walk in San Antonio with parking and a pool.”
If (or when) Vrbo listings appear in these AI-powered trip searches, properties with strong visuals, high ratings, and complete amenity details will stand out even more.
For hosts, that means:
Keep your listings detailed and accurate.
Make sure your amenities and photos are top-tier.
Be ready for a world where travel planning happens through chat — not clicks.
Try It
Where it’s available: All ChatGPT users outside the EU on Free, Go, Plus, or Pro plans
How to use it: Just open ChatGPT and type a question starting with “Expedia”

This is another example of how travel platforms are merging AI and personalization — and it’s only a matter of time before short-term rentals are part of that conversation.
