Do I Need a Trash Valet? Really?

The Small Things (and Why They Matter)
By Shelley Galbraith, Chair, STRASA
Have You Ever Considered a Trash Valet Service?
As STR hosts, we think a lot about hospitality: clean sheets, stocked coffee, quick replies, welcoming spaces. But there are behind-the-scenes tasks that can make or break the guest experience—and one of the most overlooked is trash.
Dragging bins to the curb isn’t glamorous. It’s not what guests remember or what drew us into hosting. But missed pickups, overflowing cans, and pest issues can impact reviews, neighborhood relations, and even lead to city fines. In other words, trash duty isn’t hospitality—but it sure affects it.
Where Fido Fits In
That’s why I want to introduce you to Fido, a local service you may not have thought about using. Their team takes care of the simplest (and sometimes most annoying) job: rolling your bins out before pickup and back in the next day. That’s it. No texts to cleaners, no wondering if the neighbor moved them, no interruptions to your guests.
For those of us juggling multiple properties, it’s one less thing to manage on turnover day—and it keeps operations seamless.
Why I Recommend Them
I recently reconnected with Justin, Fido’s CEO, at our STRASA Local Business Fair. What struck me wasn’t just the service itself, but how reliable and thoughtful his team is about supporting hosts. They’ve built a service that solves a problem most of us don’t even realize is a problem—until something goes wrong.
Special Offer for STRASA Members
Fido is offering one month of free service for any property that signs up before the end of May. And to make it even better, for each new unit signed up, they’ll donate $50 back to STRASA—supporting our mission to advocate for and connect San Antonio hosts.
